Parent-Toddler Program (9 months to 24 months)

Our Parent-Toddler program is specially designed to help toddlers prepare for school. As a part of this programme, toddlers and their parents attend a 1 and a half hour session where toddlers learn through play and a wide variety of child-centered activities. Parents and Toddlers participate together in Art, Music & Movement, Gym, Story-time, Sensorial play etc.

This program helps in the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of the children while feeling the support comfort and confidence in the company of their parents. The student-teacher ratio for the Parent-Toddler Program is 7 : 1, and the duration of the programme is a one and a half hour session.

Young Children’s Community Program (18 months to 2.5 years)

During the first 3 years of life, your child develops more rapidly than at any other time. During this phase, your child absorbs large amounts of information from the environment through observation and experiences. These are the years that lay the foundation for later learning—and the stronger the foundation, the more the child will be able to build upon it.

Our top priority is making sure your child is healthy, safe and happy. Learning through the five senses helps children comprehend and classify the world around them.

YCC program offer a curriculum that emerges from each child’s unique skills and interests. Our team and the environment are prepared with that in mind. Based on daily observations, teachers introduce new materials and activities that pique curiosity and stimulate learning. Learning objectives for your child at this age include developing skills such as language, concentration, problem solving, visual discrimination, and physical coordination. At all levels of toddler care, we believe that clear communications between the teacher and the parents is essential for the child’s well-being but this is particularly important during the toddler years when children reach and surpass so many milestones in their development.

We use an email notification program to keep you up to date, daily, on your child’s activities, explorations, accomplishments, and care. Teachers are well-qualified to observe and respect the individual needs and temperaments of each child.

The routines of everyday living are the foundation of Montessori Infant & Toddler programs. The daily toddler schedule is intentionally unobtrusive and provides plenty of opportunities for learning, cuddling, napping, or socializing. Children spend their day in a mix of individual and group activities. Each day includes time for games, activities, songs, stories, sound cards, art and music. Activities promote independence, order, coordination, and concentration, as well as support social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. These learning activities include:

  • Self-care: washing, dressing, toileting, and eating, according to each child’s individual capacity
  • Care of the environment: cleaning, food preparation and food service; plant care and animal care
  • Large-motor activities (indoors and out): walking, climbing, running, jumping, balancing, climbing steps, and more
  • Fine-motor skills: reaching, grasping, picking up objects, transferring objects, using tools and utensils, doing art work
  • Language: naming objects, describing actions and intentions, discussing pictures, conversation, music, and singing
  • Social skills: developing manners through interactions with peers, teachers, and adult-led small group games

Also, all materials are sanitized several times a week to prevent the spread of germs. Personal items such as nap pads, diapers, and spare clothing are stored separately for each child.

Casa Children’s house (3 to 6 years)

The Montessori Children’s House is a mixed age environment specifically designed to help children between the ages of 3 to 6 years to develop at their own pace, choosing their own activities from the Montessori materials which are displayed in an ordered and accessible way.

Children work individually, or in groups, with hands-on activities which are designed to help them develop physically, socially and intellectually. Each activity is complete in itself and also prepares for later activities so that the children move from one activity to the next, mastering each new challenge with ease. Children explore and find things out for themselves. They become confident in their own abilities because the environment naturally encourages them to persevere, achieve manageable goals and correct their own mistakes. The program emphasizes the process of discovery and exploration of the world through multi-sensory materials.

Children develop the ability to concentrate on tasks and see them through in a logical way and consequently they learn to read and write with ease and they develop an understanding of mathematics through exploration of concepts in concrete form. There is ample opportunity for exploration of the world, including the animals, people and plants in it and children express themselves freely through music, drama and art.

  • Practical Life: Daily living activities that develop a sense of accomplishment and self-esteem, while developing fine motor skills and concentration.
  • Sensorial: Materials encourage children to use their five senses to develop classification and discrimination skills. It enhances vocabulary while building a firm understanding of many fundamental concepts that directly lead to better math and language skills.
  • Science: Creates opportunities to explore and develop concrete foundations for understanding the world.
  • History & Geography: Develops an understanding of our world by recognizing and celebrating our past and present.
  • Math: A hands-on approach to number concepts, quantity and operations.
  • Language: A firm grounding in perceptual-motor, pre-reading, and pre-writing readiness skills. Children progress to the ultimate goal of establishing the skills for reading and writing success.
  • Art: Develops creativity and a sense of beauty through expressive use of materials and activities.
  • Music and Drama: Encourages an appreciation for the arts through music lessons and performances

Elementary (6 to 12 years)

At the age of 6, children who have attended a Montessori Children’s House transfer to our Elementary classes. These mixed age classes provide a dynamic and collaborative environment where children learn through debate, discussion and research.

Children will have developed independence of thought and action, confidence, intellectual curiosity, concentration, self-discipline and enthusiasm for learning in the Children’s House which is strengthened and built upon during their time in the Elementary.

Montessori Elementary meets the changing needs of children, and responds to their expanding view of the world around them. At this stage, children are ready for more complex work as they move towards abstract ways of thinking. Many new materials are introduced as they develop their imagination to embrace concepts beyond their immediate environment. They are more interested in the world outside their classroom and so their reasoning mind is nurtured by the Going Out experiences.

The curriculum is interdisciplinary and academically challenging. It covers the full range of subjects required by the National Curriculum while maintaining essential Montessori principles and much emphasis is placed on the interconnection between different areas of study.

Children work individually and in groups, on projects and themes that spark their interest. The teacher’s role is to prepare an environment that helps to activate the reasoning mind of the child and guide them in their research and to provide opportunities to explore information in such a way that they learn to make full use of a library, reference books, internet and their going out experiences.

Core subjects include Language, Mathematics, Science, Geography and History. Integrated with these are activities such as Art, Drama, Sport and Music.
